Història
Although Emili Pou had presented a Project to build a 6th order lighthouse at this site, nothing was done for a long time until an automatic light using a sun valve and acetylene naked flame flash devices was opened on the 1st September 1974. Was designed by Rafael Soler. It employed a 350mm dioptric lens right from the start. Sa Mola joined the recently automated lighthouses on Dragonera Island in the grouping of lighthouses tended by technicians who lived in the Port of Andratx in cottages near the red beacon (which they were also responsible for) at the entrance to the harbour. It belongs to the first generation of lighthouses built without dwellings, although a number of automated beacons had already been in existence since the 1920s. The urbanisation suffered by the area is means that the refurbishment needed to guarantee the range and quality of the light is currently being planned.
